This painting was inspired by an image I took while traveling through the Mediterranean. As I hiked around this island I enjoyed the many temperatures of the colours that were on the old ancient walls. I always say to myself, if only that wall could tell me its story!

This scene was painted on location, the following day of a major west coast wind storm. The sky was moody and the wind the day before had pushed hundreds of logs onto the beach.
Painted on location, under the raised hatchback door of my vehicle. It was a typical west coast fall day that came with a drizzle of rain and some mist. No one was too wet at the end of that day.
I am very fortunate to look out to my backyard and see this majestic mountain when the sky is clear. I have notice the colours change as we proceed through all our seasons. I am looking forward to painting this scene again in a different season.
This painting was done on location one spring. Myself and two other painting buddies rented an old farm house for a few days in this region to paint the fields of tulips, before they were cut and shipped to numerous markets. The assortment of colours in these fields were amazing, as were the sheer number of tulips!
Living in the Northwest Pacific along the water, I am blessed to have Arbutus trees in the area. These are unique red trunk trees and they only live within 8 km of the ocean and like the milder weather here on the island. It is fun to paint these trees with their vivid red.
An oil sketch painted on the grounds of Strathcona Park Lodge, on Vancouver Island. This special place includes an amazing Outdoor Education Centre, which also involves Search and Rescue training. This painting shows one of the many paths to upper Campbell Lake with the mountains in the back. That day, BC was still lingering with the forest fires smoke drifting up from the south.
One of my favourite backyard hikes is the Gowland Provincal Park trails. This is a painting of Squally Reach Viewpoint, a resting spot for me Mohave a thermos cup of coffee and snack while admiring the incredible view.
This painting was painted on location at Miracle Beach, BC. It was an interesting day weather wise, as the fog rolled in and rolled out, constant change. Another great day to be painting on location, grateful.
Living by the sea, I am fortunate most mornings to start my day not only with a cup of steaming coffee, also with a fabulous sunrise. From our home, my upper studio balcony makes it easy to paint these sunrises in the moment.
The universe works in mysterious ways. I am fortunate to live by the sea and most MondaysI am treated to an awesome colourful sunrise.
